I chose this book because I missed the original date of picking our books. I shuffled through the left overs and this book peaked my interest. I am interested in wars and history and this is a pinnacle of recent history. Living life through a concentration camp. It gives you incite on the authentic perspective of having been through the scenario rather than hearing random facts and trying to understand even a sliver of what they endured. The author seems to know how to interpret the story into a way young readers would be able to wrap their heads around this gruesome topic much easier.

  29. The title of my book is called "Dear Martin" by Nic Stone. Stone is a 33 year old African American author who obviously feels very strongly about the social injustices within the black community. I chose this book because it has a similar story line to The hate you give. The book follows a young african american teen who is the top of his class and an excelling student. Despite leaving his rough neighbor hood he can't seem to escape the stigma on his back as a black teenage boy. He looks to the teachings of Martin Luther King to guide him through his troubles. Eventually there is an incident with the cops that leads to a media fallout where 17 year old Justyce McAllister is under fire. I also chose this book because although the novel is fiction there are real life issues like the one posed in the story going on in the real world and it needs to be addressed.

One day things get really juicy in his life and he writes a story about his adventure. He achieved one of those which was this book being a number one best seller for awhile. He's also got platinum songs and albums and overall a hard working man. I choose to read this book because I wanted to see what was in store for his writing in storytelling in a book. He had some storytelling in his music through his albums skits, but never wrote a book. The storytelling in his albums were out of this world and very sci fi and spacey and just really cool. I don't read books a lot either so I saw it as a challenge to get that book and read it. 47. The book I picked up is "You in Five Acts" by Una LaMarche. She's an award-winning journalist and blogger, and apparently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and son.

It's a multi-point of view book, five character's perspectives separated in 'acts'.

This particular book caught my eye because of the style of the cover. After reading the back and the first couple of pages, I realized it was about the stage. Granted, it was focused around ballet, but it was a stage all the same. Acting is a passion of mine, so it made sense to read something I could relate to. From research, I gathered something interesting about it's style of writing as well. In each chapter, the person narrating is in first person, and a different friend each act becomes the second person POV, being called "You" by the first-person narrator. This might be a little weird to get used to, but I think it'll be interesting style-wise.

    1. I switched my book. I read a little of the stories didn't interest me to much so I've now chosen the first book of a six part series called HeartSick by Chelsea Cain, it's a mystery thriller novel. Cain is a novelist and a columnist. I chose this book because I had the 5th book borrowed from the library but didn't know that it was part of a 6 book series so I looked up the first book because it interested me and I wanted to know more about some characters that were mentioned. I also like the thriller mystery side of it.

  67. The title of my book is Replica, and the author is Jenna Black. One thing I can tell from the author is that she has a type of writing that lots of her books have in common, which is fantasy. Most of her books consist of some sort of fantasy, such as Urban Fantasy and Young Adult Fantasy. The main reason that I have chosen this book is because I have read it before so it will easier to read, and I would be able to read it faster.
